I’m Sonia, the esthetician behind Pompeii Skin Care, a private skincare studio in Downey. I’ve always been drawn to skincare, but for a long time, my career and life’s challenges kept that interest in the background.
After being laid off, I knew I wanted a different path from the corporate world. My husband suggested becoming an esthetician and helped me take the first step by enrolling me in school. What began as an unexpected opportunity became a chapter that changed my life.
I found myself looking forward to getting up early for class. Learning about skin opened a world I hadn’t known before—one that held my attention and made me excited to keep learning. I had found work I truly enjoyed.
Bringing out your natural beauty
For me, esthetics is a hands-on art with a clear purpose: helping your skin look its best and bringing out the beauty that is already yours. I take time to understand your skin, your daily routine, and the changes you would like to see, then tailor each facial to those goals.
Whether your focus is smoother-looking texture, a brighter appearance, or better hydration, I pay attention to the details of every treatment. I enjoy seeing the progress we make and helping you understand what we are doing and why, so your appointment feels as informative as it is enjoyable.
My approach combines careful technique, personalized care, and realistic expectations. I want you to leave with skin that feels refreshed and looks well cared for, along with a clearer understanding of how to care for it between visits. The goal is to enhance your natural beauty through consistent, thoughtful skincare.
A name rooted in love
Early in our relationship, my husband shared a story about Pompeii that became a personal symbol of enduring love for us. When I began imagining my own studio, Pompeii was the first name that came to mind.
To me, it represents love for my partner, my children, people, and life. Choosing that name brought something deeply personal into my work: the belief that caring for others can be expressed through small, thoughtful acts.
I’ve always liked to listen, observe, and care for the people around me. At Pompeii Skin Care, I bring that same attention to each client. I hope to build relationships that last, and to create an experience you’ll want to return to—and share with family and friends.
